Why Farmington, New Mexico?

Farmington is the perfect blend of a growing city with the charm of a small town. The Four Corners has a little bit of something for everyone, whether you’d like to hit the lake for some fishing, or attend a wine tasting at a nearby vineyard, it’s all right here. The area also has some of the tastiest Mexican food you’ll ever eat.

Not only is Farmington the economic hub of the region, with many one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants, it’s a lovely community to raise a family in or explore a new outdoor hobby. The region is home to various festivals, summer concerts and cultural arts events that happen all year long. Farmington is a great place to live and grow!

An Outdoor Paradise

Farmington is tucked away in one of the most uniquely beautiful parts of the whole country— the Four Corners. In every direction you have the beauty of the natural landscape from the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, the desert wilderness in Arizona or the wonder of Monument Valley a short drive away in Utah. There are countless parks and outdoor spaces to enjoy when the weather is just right, a perfect way to spend a Saturday with the family exploring Chaco Canyon or the hiking trails along the river. Durango is just a 30 minute drive up the highway to try out white water rafting or a more challenging hike. The ski slopes make for some good winter memories several months out of the year. Whatever your preference, you’re bound to find something to pique your interest.

A Southwest Cultural Hub

The Four Corners is home to several Native American tribes that have a centuries long influence on the art, design, literature and culture of the region. There are rich traditions of foods, dance and even vernacular that are a blend of the history of both Native and Hispanic culture unique to San Juan County. Art and jewelry galleries dot the map as well as museums and gorgeous venues, such as Lions Wilderness Amphitheater, that showcase the performing arts. San Juan College is host to many local talent from the Symphony to community theater. The spring and summer is an especially exciting time when festivals and art walks are a fun way to learn more about all the activities and programs the area has to boast of. The arts and entertainment is quality and plentiful and definitely deserves a spot on your calendar.

There's no place like home...

Most of us grow up with some sense of nostalgia for our childhood homes, and this generally included the neighborhood or even the city we grew up in. Farmington is one of those places where your family could grow and build your own memories of getting married, your child’s first day of school… and their last. Farmington has high community engagement for school fundraisers, sports and activities that make it a great place to volunteer and get involved. The weekends are full of opportunities to visit Navajo Dam or a National Park, have a cookout and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Farmington is an affordable and cozy place to bring your family and stay a while.
